If you just got a color piece, here’s the short version: the same aftercare that protects black and grey protects color. There’s no separate cream you need.

Why people think otherwise

Color tattoos look different as they heal. The pigment sits a little higher in the skin, the scabs come off looking like the colors themselves, and the finished work goes through a “milky” phase around days 14–21 that black and grey doesn’t. None of that means the aftercare needs to change.

What actually matters for color

Sun. UV fades color faster than black. Once your tattoo is fully healed (week 4+), SPF 30 minimum, every time it’s out.

Hydration. Dry skin makes color look dull. Keep it moisturized — InkLube, body lotion, anything plant-based — long after the heal is done.

Patience. Color tattoos take 6–8 weeks to settle. The shade you see on day 30 is not the shade you’ll have for life. It usually deepens.

One formula, every kind of work. That’s the whole point.
