Why it works
Aftercare is the gift nobody buys themselves in time.
People book a tattoo months out and sort out aftercare on the drive home, which is how so many heals start with a drugstore petroleum ointment bought in a hurry. A tattoo gift card sent for the week of the appointment lands at exactly the moment it is useful.
It also solves the sizing problem. A half sleeve and a knuckle tattoo need very different amounts of product — the sizing guide explains why — and a gift card lets them make that call instead of you guessing. If they already have a jar going, it works on merch too.

Does it expire?
No. There is no expiry date and no dormancy fee. A card bought today still works in three years.

The remainder stays on the card and applies to their next order. Nothing is lost on a partial redemption.

Is it physical?

Using a tattoo gift card well.
The most useful thing you can do with a tattoo gift card is time it. Sent a week before an appointment, it arrives while the person is still thinking about aftercare and has not yet bought whatever is nearest to the studio. Sent the morning after, it lands exactly when the wrap comes off and the reality of a twenty-eight day routine sets in.
Amounts are worth a moment of thought too. Ten dollars covers the travel jar, twenty covers the standard size, thirty covers the largest, and anything above that starts covering a proper bundle or merch alongside it. There is no premium for choosing a smaller amount and no expiry pressure pushing them to spend it quickly.
